94.1 The Breeze & Domino’s Help Fight Hunger – Supporting Nourishing Communities

Domino’s is teaming up with the New Glasgow Farmers Market to help fight food insecurity in Pictou County.

On August 18th, Domino’s New Glasgow will have a Large 3 topping pizza on sale for $13.99 and $5 from every pizza sold will be donated to the Nourishing Communities program, helping local families access fresh, healthy food through the New Glasgow Farmers Market.

The goal is to sell 1,000 pizzas, raising $5,000 – enough to provide healthy food for approximately 42 local families in Pictou County for an entire month.

Every pizza purchased makes a difference by helping families, supporting local farmers, and strengthening our community.

About Nourishing Communities

The Nourishing Communities program, operated by the New Glasgow Farmers Market, helps local families facing food insecurity access fresh, healthy food while supporting local farmers and small businesses.

Since launching in 2018, the program has:

  • Supported 236 households
  • Invested over $198,000 into the local economy
  • Improved access to nutritious food for families in Pictou County

The program provides eligible households with Market Money to purchase fresh, locally produced food from participating vendors at the Farmers Market. This not only helps families put healthy food on the table but also keeps dollars circulating within our local community.

The Impact

Participants report that the program has made a real difference:

  • 99% say it has had a positive impact on their lives.
  • 91% are eating healthier foods.
  • 93% feel more connected to their community.
  • 92% have more money available for other essential needs.

About The New Glasgow Farmers Market

The New Glasgow Farmers Market is Pictou County’s regional, year-round, non-profit farmers market, dedicated to supporting local farmers, food producers, artisans, and the community.

Every Saturday, thousands of shoppers connect directly with more than 175 local vendors, helping strengthen the local economy. Beyond the Market itself, we believe everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy, locally produced food.

Through programs like Nourishing Communities, we help reduce food insecurity while investing directly in local farmers and small businesses, creating lasting benefits for families, local businesses, and our community.
