New Glasgow Police is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing person – 82-year-old Scott Anthony Grant – who was reported missing late Monday evening.   An Emergency Alert Missing Vulnerable Person message was issued early this morning.  He was last seen at approximately 8:30 pm leaving the Aberdeen Regional Hospital on East River Rd. in New Glasgow.  Scott Anthony Grant is described as five-foot-one and approximately 174 lbs.  The New Glasgow Police is concerned for the welfare of Scott Anthony Grant and is asking the community to assist by sharing information by any means. Police are also asking the public to come forward with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem.  Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Scott Anthony Grant is asked to contact the New Glasgow Police or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.

Nova Scotia’s Liberals will elect their first woman leader this fall, but the challengers say the race is more about picking the right person for the job.  Running for the leadership are Becky Druhan, who represents Lunenburg West in the legislature, and Amanda Mombourquette, the deputy warden of Richmond County.  Mombourquette says the prospect of a woman leader is exciting, but her focus is on rebuilding the party while offering strong opposition in the legislature.  Druhan says the key is choosing the person with the skills and experience to lead the party and be prepared to govern.

WestJet planes slowly started to take off on Monday afternoon after a one-day strike by flight attendants.

Cabin crew walked off the job early Sunday morning, after failing to reach a new contract with the airline.

WestJet then grounded all flights on a long summer weekend across much of Canada.  WestJet and the union representing some 44-hundred flight attendants reached a tentative deal early Monday to resume work after a brief stoppage.

A reminder from New Glasgow Police that pedestrian traffic is not permitted along the railways. That is the property of the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway.  Police say that walking on any railway tracks can be dangerous and can present many hazards — and it’s trespassing.   Anybody found in those areas will be moved by police and could face charges which carry a fine of $237.
