Pictou County District RCMP say that someone damaged safety infrastructure at railway crossings this month in apparent attempts to steal copper wire. R-C-M-P say equipment was damaged three times in two weeks at railway crossings in Pictou County, and the damage appears deliberate. Police are not providing specific details about the equipment because they don’t want to encourage more thefts. The Mounties are reminding residents that tampering with any railway equipment is illegal, and damaging signs around railway crossings can be dangerous for the public, especially if the signs warn drivers about approaching trains.
