The mother of two missing children in Pictou County alleges that her common-law partner was sometimes physically abusive and hurt her.   The newly unsealed court documents include unproven allegations and excerpts from interviews with Malehya Brooks-Murray. On May 2nd last year, she called 9-1-1 to report that four-year-old Jack Sullivan and six-year-old Lilly Sullivan had wandered away from their home in Lansdowne Station.  According to police, Brooks-Murray told investigators the children’s stepfather, Daniel Martell, would sometimes hold her down and once pushed her.   Martell denies the allegations and says they are part of a narrative designed to make him look evil.

Pictou County District RCMP has charged a man who attempted to assault a police officer with a blow torch.   Early Monday night, officers went to a home as part of an investigation into the theft of a truck.  The RCMP says that when an officer told a man that he was under arrest, the man lit a blowtorch and attempted to burn the officer. The officer deployed his taser and the man was taken into custody.  A subsequent search resulted in police locating and seizing a quantity of methamphetamine.  A 41-year old Scotsburn man has been charged with Assault Police Officer, Assault with a Weapon, Obstruction, and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

 

 

Pictou County District RCMP is seeking information on the whereabouts of 33-year old Dylan Rutledge of Stellarton, currently wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant.  Rutledge is facing charges of Failure to Comply with Release Order.  He is described as being approximately 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds. He has dark brown hair and hazel eyes.   Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dylan Rutledge is asked to call Pictou County District RCMP or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.

 

 

Gas and diesel prices both went up overnight in Nova Scotia.  The price of regular gasoline increased by 4.9 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.33 per litre in the local area.  The price of diesel rose by 5.7 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for self-serve diesel at $1.61 per litre, locally.
