The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged a Thorburn man for drug trafficking and weapons offences after executing a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation. Last week police searched a home in Thorburn and arrested two people and seized weapons, including a sword and a baton, a quantity of cocaine, and cash. A 61-year old man is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. He has been released on conditions and is due in Pictou Provincial Court on March 30th. The second person arrested was released without charges.

The RCMP’s Halifax Regional Detachment is asking for the public’s help in locating 16-year-old Tihonnah Clayton. Police say she was last seen in Halifax, but may be in the Truro area, and also has ties to the Lower Mainland of BC. Tihonnah is described as approximately 5-foot-5 and 155 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Tihonnah Clayton is asked to contact RCMP or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
Nova Scotia’s Sipekne’katik First Nation says it is co-operating with a police oversight agency as it investigates the death of a local man this week.
The province’s Serious Incident Response Team was called in after R-C-M-P fatally shot a man near the community northeast of Halifax on Tuesday morning.
The man’s death followed the transmission of an emergency alert for residents of Hants and Colchester counties warning of a man with a firearm driving in the area.
R-C-M-P say as they were trying to stop the vehicle, shots were fired and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Halifax casino is set to move from its longtime waterfront location to a new build in Dartmouth. Nova Scotia Finance Minister Tim Halman says the move will create an opportunity for new development in downtown Halifax. The province says the current casino will remain open while the new casino space will be built in Dartmouth Crossing.
