Canadians should expect to start receiving their mail again this week.
Canada Post says operations will resume on Tuesday after the Canada Industrial Relations Board ordered some 55-thousand striking postal workers back to work.
The Crown corporation says it has agreed with the union to implement a five per cent wage increase, which is retroactive to the day after the collective agreements expired.

Central Nova MP and Housing Minister Sean Fraser is the latest Liberal M-P who has reportedly said he won’t seek re-election. A senior government official not authorized to speak says Fraser won’t run again due to family reasons. He joins four other M-Ps who announced they won’t seek re-election, including National Revenue Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau. The next federal election is expected to take place by October of next year. Fraser is expected to comment today on his future plans.
The Liberal government releases its fall economic statement today, but Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has already given a preview.
She’s said it will include tax reforms of a program that aims to encourage businesses to do research and development in Canada.
The government estimates those reforms will amount to 26-billion-dollars in tax incentives for Canadian businesses.
The statement is also expected to show a larger-than-promised deficit and offer details on how Ottawa plans to tackle threatened tariffs by incoming U-S president Donald Trump.
The Mounties have charged a man with aggravated assault following a fight between two men in North River. Investigators say that on December 6th at approximately 1:30 a.m., they received a report that a stabbing had occurred sometime during the evening of December 5th on Highway 3-11 in North River. Police later found the victim, a 44-year-old Truro man, with serious injuries and he was transported to hospital by a family member. Investigators determined that no weapon was involved in the incident and the victim was not stabbed, but a 33-year-old man from Bible Hill has been charged with aggravated assault and released on conditions.
New Glasgow Regional Police have charged an impaired driver as a result of an Operation Christmas checkpoint. Shortly after 1:00am on Sunday morning, officers conducting an Operation Christmas Checkpoint on Trenton Road in New Glasgow charged a 24-year-old man from Westville with Impaired. He was released and will soon be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou.
New Glasgow Regional Police have launched their Operation Lock It or Loose It campaign for the Holiday Season. During the busy Christmas and holiday season, police say it becomes extremely important to lock up your vehicle and your house at all times. An unlocked vehicle presents a crime of opportunity, especially if valuables are in plain sight. Last year during the holiday season, over a dozen vehicles had contents stolen and the majority of the vehicles were left unlocked. Already this month, several vehicles have had contents stolen from them where the vehicle was unlocked., while of those vehicles were stolen.
