The case of a Nova Scotia woman who was denied an exemption to travel to Newfoundland for her mother’s funeral during the pandemic is going to the Supreme Court of Canada.
The justices will rule on the constitutionality of a pandemic-related restriction by Newfoundland and Labrador’s chief medical officer that limited travel by non-residents for public-health reasons.

The first 13 paramedics from Australia will start work in July, and the remaining 17 will start in early 2025.
The government says its partners are also working to match continuing care assistants and pharmacists from Australia with employers in the province.
