The Town of New Glasgow is pleased to announce that the annual New Glasgow Fire & Rescue Santa Claus Parade will take place on Sunday, December 8th at 5:30 pm. Please note that the parade will once again begin from Granville Street and follow the same route down East River Road, onto Archimedes Street, onto North Provost and then up Provost Street ending at Stewart Street.
The theme for this year’s parade is once again Holiday Light Up and the parade committee encourages entries to support this theme and to have fun with it by being creative and festive.
The Parade Committee is very pleased to announce that the Honorary Grand Marshall will be the Pictou County Y Service Club Women, a service organization that provides support and volunteer services to the Pictou County YMCA and community. The club supports local causes such as YMCA Day Camps, YMCA Youth Leadership, YMCA Program Needs, Pictou County Food Bank and Pictou County Fuel fund to name a few.
The Kinsmen and Kinettes Clubs of New Glasgow will also be conducting their food drive for the Pictou County East Food Bank.
If you are a business, church group, music group, band, youth group, or school, etc. and interested in participating in the parade, please contact Paula Munro-Fraser by email: mom_3boys@hotmail.com or by calling 902 759 7483. You may also pick up an entry form at the New Glasgow Fire Department, Dalhousie Street or at the New Glasgow Town Office, 111 Provost Street.
The Holiday Tree Light Up will take place following the parade at Glasgow Square Theatre (155 Riverside Parkway) with hot chocolate, candy canes, caroling and the annual lighting of New Glasgow's holiday tree. Don't forget your letters to Santa!
