Police have recaptured the man who escaped from the Northeast Nova Scotia Correctional Facility near New Glasgow. Kevin Edward Clarke-McNeil, 33, escaped between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday. RCMP say he evaded police overnight, but was taken into custody Saturday morning. Clarke-McNeil had been found in the Sheet Harbour area east of Halifax, about 90 kilometres south of the jail, and RCMP say more details would come later. Many Nova Scotians received an emergency alert about the situation just before midnight on Friday. The alert included a description of Clarke-McNeil, his criminal charges, and asked people to call 911 if they saw him. RCMP also clarified the emergency alert was not issued by them, but instead on behalf of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice, which operates the correctional facility. Correctional Services say they will be conducting a full review of this escape. (With files from CBC)
