The Pictou Fire Department took the opportunity to work with its Mutual aid partners last night to practice and asses water shuttling capabilities for firefighting with extremely low water levels within the town’s water system this summer.
There’s a Water Conservation Order in Pictou to address current shortages within the Town’s water distribution system. The order gives the Town the ability to ensure conservation measures are observed and enforced where necessary.
According to the town’s press release: https://www.facebook.com/townofpictou/photos/a.645083132208444/2578528815530523/?type=3&theater public’s works employees and contractors have identified and repaired a number of leaks, but it appears a new leak has materialized. Users will be experiencing lower than usual pressure and volume. Residents and Water Utility Customers are asked for their cooperation, until further notice, by only using water when necessary.
DOG SAVED FROM HOT VEHICLE IN TRURO
Truro Police Service responded to a call regarding a dog left in a vehicle at the Truro Mall parking lot yesterday. When officers arrived they observed the dog was panting heavily and appeared to be in distress. Officers broke the rear window of the car, got the dog out and provided it with water right away. Officers waited for approximately 20 minutes before the owner returned to her vehicle. The temperature at the time was 32 with the humidex, and of course this would be much warmer inside the vehicle as the windows were only open a crack. When the owner of the vehicle returned, she was charged and given a Summary Offence Ticket for violating the Animal Protection Act. Police are appealing to all pet owners to please ensure you leave your pets at home where they are comfortable and not left alone in a vehicle.
