Police have charged a second man with first-degree murder in the death of a Pictou County man, 61-year old Steven Boudreau. In April, Boudreau was reported missing from Hopewell. Boudreau’s remains were found in May, which is when the first suspect — a 29-year-old man from Torbrook — was arrested in Torbrook and charged with first-degree murder. The second accused, a 36-year-old man from Kings County, was arrested at a home in East Dalhousie on Monday.

A report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives says Atlantic Canada is home to the lowest and highest gender pay gaps in the country. The highest reported gender pay gap is in Newfoundland and Labrador, where women make 76 cents for each dollar an average man makes in the province. In Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, the report says women make 85 cents and 86 cents, respectively, to each dollar an average man makes. The report says P-E-I, where women make 95 cents for each dollar a man makes, has the lowest pay gap in the country.

Nova Scotians can now book a range of vaccines by calling 8-1-1. The province says the new booking option is available for Covid-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus vaccines. Residents seeking immunizations for shingles, pneumococcal and meningococcal B can also book a shot by calling 8-1-1. The health minister says adding vaccine booking to the provincial public health line will make access to immunizations easier.

Canada faces South Africa on Sunday in Los Angeles in the round of 32 at the World Cup. Canada fell 2-1 to Switzerland in Vancouver yesterday to rank second in Group B. Both Canada and South Africa have reached the World Cup’s knockout stage for the first time.
