There was a drop in gasoline prices overnight in Nova Scotia, but it was status quo for diesel prices. The price of regular gasoline went down by 5.3 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for self-serve regular gasoline at $1.74 per litre in the local area. No change though in diesel prices, so the minimum pump price for self-serve diesel remains $2.07 per litre locally.
The RCMP is investigating a recent suspicious death in Upper Big Tracadie as a homicide. Officers were dispatched Sunday to investigate a fire in a home on Highway 16, where they found the body of a man. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service has determined that the death was the result of a homicide. Meanwhile, the R-C-M-P says the province’s fire marshal had responded to four other nearby fires on Sunday and Monday, all of which are now being investigated as possible links.
Nova Scotia’s health authority says it hired 10 per cent more doctors in the 2025-26 fiscal year than the year before. The organization says 278 new doctors came to the province. Taking departures and retirements into account, Nova Scotia had a net gain of 199 new doctors, 12 more than last year. Forty per cent of the doctors were international recruits from countries such as the U-K and the U-S.

Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada trails other countries in A-I literacy and trust. Critics, meanwhile, argue the plan lacks details on privacy protections and job losses. The strategy also looks to build a Canadian-led alliance to challenge the dominance of major U-S tech companies.
