Due to a collision, Highway 104 in Stellarton, between Exits 24 and 25 westbound, had to be closed for several hours last night by the RCMP. Police advised of the road closure shortly after 7pm. The section of highway was reopened at about 1:00am. No further details on the collision have been released by the RCMP.
Gas and diesel prices both went up overnight in Nova Scotia. Gas prices rose by 2.4 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.46 per litre in the local area. The price of diesel went up by 4.7 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for diesel at $1.76 per litre locally.
Part-time faculty at Saint Mary’s University have reached a tentative agreement over wages and vacation pay. The Canadian Union of Public Employees — which represents roughly 150 part-time instructors — says its members have started voting on the agreement with the Halifax university. Staff went on strike on October 23rd, seeking improved stipends and guaranteed work for instructors who have taught at the university for at least three consecutive years.
