With those high winds continuing into this morning in the Northumberland Strait, Northumberland Ferries has cancelled the 7:00am crossing this morning from Wood Islands and the 8:30am sailing from Caribou.
Gas and diesel prices both went up overnight in Nova Scotia. The price of regular gasoline went up by 2.4 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.43 per litre in the local area. The price of diesel increased by 4.3 cents per litre, leaving the minimum pump price for diesel at $1.71 per litre locally.
Prime Minister Mark Carney’s minority Liberal government has survived the first confidence vote on its federal budget, with two more to go.
M-Ps defeated a Conservative sub-amendment 198-to-139, which argued the budget was not affordable for Canadians.
A vote on a Bloc Quebecois amendment is set for Friday, which could also test the government’s confidence.
If the Liberals lose the vote, or the main budget vote, it could trigger a federal election.
Nova Scotia’s health authority says there are eight-thousand fewer residents on the provincial wait-list for a family doctor this month. Nova Scotia Health says the primary care wait-list has hit 69-thousand-420 people. That’s down from 77-thousand-525 people who were on the registry October 1st. The health authority says the wait-list dropped because people were matched to primary care and some were removed from the list because they no longer needed a family doctor or nurse practitioner.
