Gas prices went down overnight in Nova Scotia. Pump prices for regular gasoline went down by 4.0 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at $1.46 locally. There was no change in diesel prices, so diesel still costs you $1.52 in the local area.

The Antigonish office of the RCMP Nova Scotia Northeast Traffic Services issued 35 tickets and 9 warnings this past weekend, including 4 stunt-speed drivers and 1 revoked driver. One of those speeders was stopped on Hwy 104, Broadway, Pictou County. A 33-year-old driver from Richelieu, Quebec was caught going 163 km/h in a posted 110 km/h zone
Restrictions on travel and activities in the woods in Nova Scotia have been lifted in all remaining counties except Annapolis County.
The change, which took effect yesterday afternoon, applies to Cumberland, Hants, Lunenburg, Kings, Queens, Shelburne, Digby and Yarmouth counties.
The restrictions will remain in place in Annapolis County until October 15th – which is regarded as the end of wildfire season – or until conditions allow them to be lifted.
The province’s burn ban remains in place until October 15th or until conditions improve.
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston says his government will intervene in Nova Scotia Power’s latest bid to raise electricity rates.
The utility has applied to an independent regulator to raise the standard residential rate 3.9 per cent for each of the next two years.
Houston did not elaborate on the case his government would make before the Nova Scotia Energy Board.
His government passed legislation in 2022 to cap power rates, but it was ultimately ineffective.
A group of Nova Scotia government ministers still hasn’t met with a panel that was tasked with examining environmental racism in the province.
Justice Minister Becky Druhan says the meeting, which was first talked about in late June, is still a few weeks away, although she couldn’t be specific about an exact date.
The government received the report more than a year ago but has refused to release its recommendations.
Both the opposition N-D-P and Liberals say they believe the government doesn’t want to meet with the panel during the upcoming fall sitting of the legislature, which begins Tuesday.
