On Tuesday night, the RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services assisted New Glasgow Regional Police in responding to a sighting in New Glasgow of a Hants County man wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant – 47-year old Andrew Scott Barker. Barker is wanted and charged with Unlawful Confinement; Assault; Assault with a Weapon; Administer or Cause Drugs to be Taken; Uttering Threats; Robbery; and Theft of Motor Vehicle. In responding to the reported sighting of Barker, police contained and closed to vehicle and pedestrians an area that included Chisholm Street, Nelson Street, MacDonald Street and Pioneer Trail. Officers have located and seized a red Fiat that they believe Barker had been travelling in.
Barker is described as 5-foot-11 and 170 lbs with green eyes, short brown hair and a beard.
Barker may be armed, and anyone with information on the whereabouts of Andrew Scott Barker is asked to refrain from approaching him and to call 911, Police or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
