Northumberland Ferries is advising that due to unusually low tides from Tuesday through Saturday, the ferry company will operate with restricted vehicle capacity on some sailings between Caribou and Wood Islands, PEI, while others have been cancelled. Northumberland Ferries says it highly recommends that all travellers secure a reservation in advance, as standby availability will be limited. Northumberland Ferries says the 1:30pm crossing from Caribou and 3:15pm crossing from Wood Islands are cancelled on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The 5:00pm from Caribou and 6:30pm from Wood Islands are cancelled on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The 6:30pm from Wood Islands is also cancelled on Saturday.

R-C-M-P say they have been helping evacuate some residents from Musquodoboit Harbour as they assist firefighters responding to an active forest fire in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Mounties issued a statement about the forest fire yesterday afternoon, asking residents to avoid the area about 45 kilometres east of downtown Halifax.
Nova Scotia’s natural resources department issued a statement in the afternoon saying the fire is estimated at 0.35 kilometres in size, and 12 of its firefighters and one helicopter have been on scene assisting local fire departments.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is in Belgium, where he will visit a military cemetery today before meeting with European Union leaders at an E-U-Canada summit.
Carney says he’s in Brussels to launch “a new era of partnership” between Canada and the E-U for the benefit of workers, businesses and security on both sides of the Atlantic.
He will meet with Belgium’s prime minister, and the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission.
Canada is expected to sign a security and defence agreement that would open the door to our participation in the ReArm Europe initiative.
The governor of the State of Maine is planning to travel to Atlantic Canada this week to promote her province as a destination for travel by Canadians. Janet Mills made the announcement recently at the summit between Northeastern Governors and Canadian premiers at the Massachusetts State House in Boston. The leaders were discussing the impact of the U-S president Donald Trump’s tariffs. Mills says she’ll be meeting with the premiers of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and wants to send a message that Maine is eager and open to having Canadian visitors.
This summer, children and young adults in Nova Scotia are being offered free or reduced admission to all provincial museums and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax. The offer remains open until September 2nd. Children aged 17 and under can get into the art gallery and all 28 sites of the Nova Scotia Museum for free. People aged 18 to 24 will receive 50 per cent off admission fees.
