With significant shifts in the market price of gasoline and diesel, the Nova Scotia Energy Board invoked the Interrupter Monday to adjust the gasoline and diesel prices that you pay. As a result, gas prices and diesel prices both went down significantly overnight. Gas prices went down by 6.2 cents per litre putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at 144.2 cents per litre in the local area. Diesel prices decreased by 11.6 cents per litre, meaning the minimum pump price for diesel is 150.8 cents per litre locally.
Trade uncertainty appears to be taking a toll on Canadian business and consumer confidence.
The Bank of Canada’s business outlook survey says 32 per cent of firms are planning with the assumption that a recession will occur in Canada over the coming year — up from 15 per cent over the past two quarters.
Meanwhile, the Canadian survey of consumer expectations says concerns about job security increased because of the trade conflict.
The reports come ahead of the Bank of Canada’s interest rate decision next week.

A 38-year-old man from Halifax has been charged in connection with a break-in and theft from a church in New Glasgow. On Saturday at about 1:45 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a report of break, enter and theft at a church on Abercrombie Road. The theft occurred when a private event was taking place.
Through their investigation, officers were able to identify a suspect in connection with the incident, and police were also able to recover the items.
Police arrested the 38-year-old man without incident and he’s charged with Break and Entering; Theft under $5000; Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime; Trafficking Property Obtained by Crime; and Three Counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order.
In sports, in the Maritime Junior Hockey League playoffs, the Pictou County Weeks Crushers took a commanding 3-0 lead in their Eastlink South Divisional Final series with a 4-0 Game #3 win over the Truro Bearcats on Monday night. Game #4 is Wednesday night with the Crushers at home looking to close out the series.
