Northumberland Ferries has cancelled all sailings between Wood Islands and Caribou today due to technical issues. Since the MV Confederation was damaged a couple weeks ago, Northumberland Ferries has reduced the schedule to four crossings daily from each side with the MV Saaremaa 1. It’s still not clear how long the repairs to the MV Confederation will take.
The federal Conservatives will formally introduce a motion today asking the House of Commons to declare it has no confidence in the Liberal government or Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The Bloc Quebecois and N-D-P have already said they do not support the Tory motion — which has drawn fire from the Conservatives.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has already called N-D-P Leader Jagmeet Singh a phoney for refusing to vote to bring down the Liberals.
That remark in Parliament last week prompted Singh to step out from behind his desk to shout at Poilievre
A New Brunswick election poll indicates the Liberals are leading the incumbent Tories by a slight margin in terms of voting intentions. But when the margin of error is factored in, the parties appeared to be in a very tight race. The results from the Mainstreet Research survey of 609 people, suggests the Liberals had support from 35 per cent of those surveyed, just ahead of the Tories at 32 per cent. The Green Party had 10 per cent and the People’s Alliance party was a distant fourth at three per cent — and all the other parties, including the N-D-P, had two per cent.
This week has been proclaimed by Trenton Town Council as Right to Know Week. Other municipalities across the province have done the same at the encouragement of the Information and Privacy Commissioner. The goal of Right to Know is to raise global awareness of individuals’ right to access government information and to promote access to information as a fundamental right.
