You’re paying more at the pumps today as the increase in the Federal Carbon Tax took effect this morning. The increase in the federal carbon tax meant an additional 3.3 cents per litre for gasoline and 4.0 cents per litre for diesel. The minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline is now 171.2 cents per litre locally. The minimum pump price for diesel is now 191.0 cents per litre.
The RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 78-year-old Diane LeBlanc, who was last seen on Friday at approximately 3:30 p.m. in Monastery.
Diane LeBlanc has gray hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 5-foot-5, 140 lbs. When last seen, she was wearing a black coat and blue jeans. Diane has a condition that affects her memory and she may appear confused.
Diane LeBlanc may be driving a white 2017 Chevrolet Equinox with Nova Scotia marker GFW 523. The vehicle has black winter rims and a small pink ball attached to the tip of the rear antenna. This causes the antenna to sag.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Diane LeBlanc or who may have seen the vehicle is asked to contact Antigonish County District RCMP or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
Three people have died in a two-vehicle car crash early Sunday in Moncton.
Around 1:30 a-m police, fire and ambulance services responded to a report of a head-on crash between a car and an SUV at a traffic circle in Moncton.
R-C-M-P say a 20-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man from the Bathurst region died at the scene, and a fourth person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the occupants of the car were not believed to be wearing seatbelts.
More than 400 Canadian artists from the worlds of music, film and literature are denouncing what they describe as “alarming and destructive” anti-trans legislation in an open letter released yesterday by music superstars Tegan and Sara.
The list of stars who signed the letter includes actor Elliot Page, Great Big Sea frontman Alan Doyle, and Anne Murray. .
The letter says that anti-trans policies taking root in Canada go beyond discrimination and they present a clear risk to the mental and physical well-being of trans people.
