When New Glasgow Police and firefighters responded to a backyard fire at a James Street apartment, police identified a 36-year-old Pictou County man who was wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant for Robbery, Break and Enter, Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous.

Nova Scotia’s wait-list of people in need of a family doctor or nurse practitioner hit an all-time high this month.
As of February 1st, more than 135-thousand Nova Scotians are without primary care.
This represents 13.5 per cent of the province’s population.
Health Minister Michelle Thompson says the province is working on recruiting new doctors and nurse practitioners to work in primary care.
The Nova Scotia Teachers Union says there are not enough teachers working in schools across the province.
The union says the number of students is rising and the number of teachers and substitute teachers is not keeping up.
They say this means that teachers are frequently asked to supervise multiple classrooms at once, decreasing the quality of education.
The union is calling for the government to raise substitute teacher’s pay in order to help address the shortage.
The jury has begun deliberations at the high-profile re-trial of a former Halifax medical student accused of killing another student during a drug deal in 2015.
Thirty-year-old William Sandeson has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Tyler Samson, whose body has never been found.
He testified that he shot the victim in self-defence and dumped his body in a tidal river — while the Crown argued he planned the killing to steal Samson’s drugs to help pay off high debts ahead of medical school.
Sandeson was convicted in 2017 but the verdict was overturned on appeal because the defence was not told until the first trial started that a private investigator it hired had given incriminating evidence to police.
