Nova Scotia is leading the country when it comes to being able to deliver flu shots and the possible new COVID-19 shots that people are hoping they’ll be able to get next year. That’s because Pharmacy technicians in this province are now able to administer injections offered in each of the 310 pharmacies province-wide. The pharmacy “team approach” adds 250 people to the roster of people trained to deliver vaccines, and comes during a year when demand for flu shots is sky-high, with flu and COVID systems being very similar.

He was arrested on Tuesday of this week without incident and was later released from custody on conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on January 11th. The consensus from police investigators feel is that due to the fact that Fashoranti is a doctor in the Pugwash area, there could be additional victims. People are being asked to contact Cumberland RCMP if they have any concerns, at 902-667-3859. (RCMP Photo)

PREMIER WEIGHS IN ON JAILING OF ALLEGED ABUSE VICTIM

Premier McNeil says throwing a woman alleging domestic violence by her partner into jail is “completely unacceptable”. He says it’s a sign that the justice system needs to be more compassionate and understanding on that issue. 45-year-old Serrece Winter of Dartmouth was jailed a year ago when she failed to appear in court to testify against her ex-partner, who was charged with assaulting her. The Premier says it shows the lack of understanding by so many people of the terror of such a terrible crime. Winter says that on the day of her arrest, she had been at home drinking beer to find the courage to testify, and had passed out. The man who was her partner had been facing 14 charges, including choking, assault causing bodily harm and unlawful confinement. Those charges were dropped last Friday, but a peace bond was issued ordering him to stay away from Winter and not contact her for a full year. He’s now facing another five domestic violence charges. Winter suffers from post-traumatic stress and other mental health issues. (Story with files from CBC, File Photo)
