New Glasgow Regional Police have laid charges against a man in connection with a hate-motivated crime that occurred earlier this year in New Glasgow. On July 5, Police responded to a report of a truck parked in the lot of a local grocery store on Westville Road, displaying two large Anti-Semitic signs on its tailgate. The signs included derogatory language and an offensive caricature targeting individuals based on religion. As a result of the investigation, a 59-year old man from Pictou Landing has been arrested and charged with Wilful Promotion of Hatred.

As of yesterday, the Lake George blaze was about 2.9 square kilometres in size.
Canada-U-S Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc says our countries are working toward reaching trade deals quickly on steel, aluminum and energy before dealing with other sectors. LeBlanc says talks behind closed doors with U-S President Donald Trump, while part of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s delegation at the White House on Tuesday, were more detailed than in the past. Trump lavished public praise on Carney and promised the P-M would walk away “very happy” from their working meetings — even as he sent aggressive signals on trade and joked about annexing Canada. Carney didn’t address the media as he left the White House, but there was word he was to be a dinner guest of Vice President J-D Vance.
