On Tuesday, Stellarton Police responded to a report of a man who followed a 12-year-old boy after he got off a school bus at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Bridge Avenue. While walking home, the man allegedly followed and approached the boy near the intersection of Calideh Drive and Bridge Avenue. It was reported that the man attempted to get the boy into a bag he was carrying — and that the boy ran away and reported the incident to a trusted adult.
Stellarton Police say the subsequent investigation has determined that the incident did not occur and there is no threat to the public.
However, police are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the authorities.

Nova Scotia says its five-year housing plan is still on track to meet or exceed targets set in a program launched two years ago. In a release, Minister of Growth and Development Colton LeBlanc said the plan is showing results with just over 14-thousand-six-hundred housing units created or in progress. The province estimates another roughly 54-thousand housing units will be built, bringing them close to 69-thousand units or 167 per cent of their 2028 goal. The government also says its plan has made life more affordable for close to 20-thousand households.
The Nova Scotia government is introducing a bill it says would eliminate red tape and encourage business activity, particularly in the province’s natural resources sector.
Service Efficiency Minister Tim Halman introduced the bill in the legislative chamber yesterday.
Halman says the bill is aimed at streamlining approval processes for industrial projects without weakening environmental protections.
The bill could require provincial officials to create a ‘red-tape reduction action plan’ that includes targets to speed up the approval of a development permits.
