The Town of Stellarton is advising that it is in stage 1 of its water contingency plan – voluntary water reductions.
Residents are requested to refrain from:

The voluntary conservation order will remain in place until the water levels of the East River return to normal. Should water levels continue to degrade, it is possible that Stage 2 water restrictions may be required.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is reducing the tolls to take the ferry between Caribou and PEI, and cross the Confederation Bridge at PEI. Starting August 1st (Friday), the toll for an average vehicle to cross the Confederation Bridge will drop from more than 50-dollars to 20 dollars, while fares will be slashed in half for passengers, vehicles and commercial traffic on federally supported Eastern Canada ferry services, including the service between Caribou and PEI. With the ferry service between Caribou and Wood islands, PEI, it’s a four year commitment until the end of the existing contract with Northumberland Ferries — and then the tolls will be up for review and renegotiation

The off-duty officer notified patrol officers who were on-duty and they located the vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on Aberdeen Avenue in New Glasgow. With assistance from the Stellarton Police Service and the New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit, officers obtained a warrant to enter the home and the suspect was arrested without incident. The man has been charged with driving while prohibited; failure to comply with release order conditions; failure to comply with probation order; and theft of vehicle.
Prime Minister Mark Carney said Monday that Canada’s negotiations with the U-S are in an “intense phase.”
It comes after U-S President Donald Trump achieved a critical agreement with the European Union days away from his tariff deadline.
The prime minister’s comments come after Trump last week told reporters that Canada wasn’t a priority ahead of his August 1st deadline to make trade deals.
Trump sent a letter to Carney threatening to impose 35-per cent tariffs if Canada doesn’t make a trade deal by Friday.
