Gasoline and diesel prices both decreased overnight in Nova Scotia. The price of regular gasoline decreased by 2.0 cents per litre, putting the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline at 144.8 cents per litre in the local area. Diesel prices decreased by 4.8 cents per litre, meaning the minimum pump price for diesel is 152.8 cents per litre locally.

The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged a woman with drug trafficking after executing a search warrant in Westville as part of an ongoing investigation.
On June 18, with assistance from Westville Police Service, the police unit searched a home and safely arrested a 41-year-old Westville woman. Police seized a quantity of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, 900 pills believed to be various illicit drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
The woman has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (four counts). She has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on September 22.
Data released Thursday by Elections Nova Scotia shows the ruling Progressive Conservative Party outpaced its rivals in fundraising last year.
The Progressive Conservatives raised about 1.2 million dollars, while the Opposition N-D-P raised about 839-thousand dollars and the Liberals received about 633-thousand dollars.
The annual report lists the name and community of each person who contributes 200 dollars or more, and the amount of the donation to the political party, riding association and registered candidate.
Donors are limited to giving a maximum of 5,000 dollars to a party.
The Canadian Public Health Association is criticizing the Nova Scotia government’s proposal to expand alcohol sales into convenience stores and other private retail outlets.
The association says increasing access to alcohol will have predictable consequences for public health and health system sustainability.
