The search continues for two children who have been missing since Friday morning in Pictou County. .
Six-year-old Lily Sullivan and her four-year-old brother Jack disappeared from their Lansdowne Station home early Friday, and it’s believed they wandered off into the woods.
R-C-M-P says there’s been considerable community support, with as many as 100 volunteers showing up each day.
Mounties say the search has also used heat-seeking technology, which can spot the heat signatures of humans. Ground Search and Rescue Teams, drones and Police Dog Services have all been used in the search.
Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health says an adult in Halifax contracted measles after they travelled to the U-S, marking the first recorded measles infection in the province since 2023.
Dr. Robert Strang told a news conference the individual had the standard single dose of vaccine, but not a second shot, which he says is now considered necessary for full immunization.
Strang says the province had been expecting the virus to pop up, given ongoing outbreaks in North America and other parts of the world.
He says public health is reaching out to anyone who was in contact with the individual while they were infectious, and the person has been discharged from hospital.
The associate deputy minister of Service Nova Scotia has acknowledged some landlords in the province are abusing fixed-term leases.
However, Gary O’Toole says the department needs to understand what the long-term consequences will be before any changes can be made to tenancy law.

A former professional hockey player, MacIntyre grew up playing in Pictou County rinks. He’s most recently been operating PMac’s Fitness & Training Centre, which moved to the upstairs of the Hector Arena last winter.
