Prime Minister Mark Carney is taking his first foreign trip as leader of the country, visiting Europe before returning to Canada for a stop in Nunavut.
Carney will work to strengthen ties with France and the U-K while reaffirming Canada’s Arctic sovereignty.
Discussions in Paris and London are expected to cover security, economic and trade ties.

Just hours after turning to the public for help in locating a vehicle reported stolen Sunday morning, New Glasgow Regional Police announced that officers located vehicle in the Mt. Thom area. The vehicle was reported stolen from Birch Street and Police say it was involved in dangerous operation. The New Glasgow Regional Police investigation is continuing.
Antigonish County District RCMP are investigating two incidents of suspected drink tampering.
Since the start of March, police have learned about two incidents involving people who believe an unknown substance was put in their drink without their knowledge. Anyone with information is asked to contact Antigonish County District RCMP or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
A warning from Nova Scotia RCMP about a scam that’s surfaced. With this scam, fraudsters pretend to represent popular airlines or travel retailers and claim that you’ve won a vacation. The catch is that you have to immediately pay fees or taxes to get the trip. RCMP warn you not to fall for requests for immediate deposits, and only book directly from legitimate vacation retailers that you contact first.
This morning marks the start of toll-free traffic on the bridges that cross the Halifax harbour.
During the provincial election campaign last fall, the governing Progressive Conservative promised to remove the tolls, which have been in place since the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge opened 70 years ago.
The Macdonald Bridge was closed over the weekend so crews could begin work dismantling the toll booths and concrete barriers.
On March 3rd, the minister of public works announced the tolls would be removed as of 5 a-m today, two weeks earlier than originally planned.
