Early this morning, as he still sat just a few electoral votes short of an historic win in Tuesday’s U-S Election over Democrat Kamala Harris, Donald Trump addressed his supporters from his campaign’s watch party in Florida. Trump said that he would fight for every citizen, for their family and their future. Trump added he was going to make people “very happy” and “very proud” of their vote. Trump said it was a country that needs help very badly, and said he was going to fix the borders and fix everything about the country.

Nova Scotia’s Progressive Conservatives are promising free shingles shots to those 65 and over if re-elected on November 26th. Party Leader Tim Houston says the program would cost 27-million dollars the first year before dropping below three million by the third year, as the focus shifts to people reaching the age of 65. Liberal Leader Zach Churchill is promising to support the building of a new six-lane bridge spanning Halifax harbour to help alleviate traffic congestion. Meanwhile, N-D-P Leader Claudia Chender says her party will create a compliance and enforcement unit for resolving tenant-landlord disputes.
The leader of Nova Scotia’s incumbent Progressive Conservatives says he won’t invite federal Tory Leader Pierre Poilievre to join him on the provincial election campaign. Tim Houston says the provincial Progressive Conservatives have no formal ties with the Tories in Ottawa — and he made a point of saying he is not a member of the federal party. As a result, Houston says he won’t ask for Poilievre’s help in advance of the November 26th election.
Today is the last day to nominate a candidate in the provincial election. Elections Nova Scotia says nominations must be received by 2 p-m. Provincial rules require nominations to close 20 days before election day, which is set for November 26th. People can vote early in the election using Elections Nova Scotia’s secure electronic ballot system once the nomination deadline passes.
New Glasgow Regional Police is seeking information on the whereabouts of a man wanted on two province-wide arrest warrants. 30-year old Jessie Gordon Roy Lalonde of Pictou County is wanted and facing numerous theft related charges. Lalonde (who also identifies under the surname Taylor) is described as a Caucasian male, 5-foot 11 inches, 170 lbs, slender build. New Glasgow Regional Police have made several attempts to locate Lalonde and are asking that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jessie Gordon Roy Lalonde to refrain from approaching him and call New Glasgow Regional Police or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
A man wanted for possession of a dangerous weapon and uttering threats has been arrested after the Mounties issued a provincewide warrant for Justin Ray Rushton. Police say the 30-year-old from Glenholm is also facing charges of breaking and entering, auto theft and mischief. The charges are related to an incident Thursday night in Great Village.
