MACKAY PLEASED, BUT NOT SURPRISED BY TIMING OF BOAT HARBOUR $$
The man running in Central Nova for the Tories this fall says Sean Fraser announcing 100-million dollars in federal money for replacing Boat Harbour is just old-fashioned electioneering. But Roger MacKay says it’s still a good move for cleaning up Boat Harbour, and it’s something that had to take place. He says the federal Liberals putting that money in just ahead of the federal vote is what people have come to expect during campaigns. MacKay says running against Fraser and the Liberals has him inspired for the coming campaign. (leading into October’s election)
If you’re on facebook and you see what looks like information from New Glasgow Police about animal control complaints, it’s likely fake. Constable Ken MacDonald says it happened late last week, and police are re-confirming that kind of information is not associated with the New Glasgow Animal Control Office. MacDonald says his officers are still investigating the fake post, which has now been taken down.
Constable Ken says when police need to send out News Releases, they’ll do it through official channels. To file a police complaint regarding internet scams or any other fraudulent scams, please contact New Glasgow Regional Police at 902 752-1941. You can also contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by calling 1-888-495-8501 to file a report.
LATEST ON QE II RE-BUILD
Three companies have been short listed to lead the public-private-partnership of the new Community Outpatient Centre in Bayers Lake, eventually making it easier for people from this part of the province to access services away from the downtown Halifax congestion. Bird Integrated Health Partners, Community Health Partners and EllisDon have qualified to bid on the design, build, finance and maintainenance of the new centre, which is part of the QEII New Generation project.
The federal government says it will spend $47 million to boost capacity at the Port of Halifax.
Transportation Minister Marc Garneau made the announcement on the waterfront yesterday, not far from the largest container terminal in Eastern Canada. The money comes from Ottawa’s National Trade Corridor Fund, which at first rejected the idea. But it appears this fall’s federal election has caused a change a heart.
